Prince Harry and Meghan Markle touched down in country Australia ahead of their big day on the hunt for the world’s best whisky.
The soon-to-be newlyweds arrived in Albury via private jet earlier in the week ahead of their tour of ‘Corowa Distilling Co.’ in hopes of finding the perfect whisky for their reported ‘boozy reception’. The after party will be hosted by none other than Prince Charles for approximately 600 of Harry and Meghan’s closet friends and family who will not attend the wedding in official capacity.
Yesterday, locals gathered at the charming distillery in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Royal couple but they were quickly ushered inside and met owner Dean Druce and master distiller Beau Schlig who were ecstatic that the royals were even considering a barrel of their whisky, let alone it later being picked as a drink deemed regal enough for the big day.
“It took us completely by surprise that they were interested in a product so far away from Kensington but we are stoked to have them down under and can't wait for them to try our products”, owner Dean Druce said while nervously speaking to us earlier.
Dean, alongside master distiller Beau Schlig, are the two brains behind the whisky goodness at 'Corowa Distilling Co.' and their shared vision of building a distillery known for quality, hand-made whisky, brandy and rum has been taken to new heights with this royal acknowledgement.
Whilst not being able to comment on the exact details of the sale, Beau told us that Harry and Meghan were “very interested in not only [their] whisky but about the area, [themselves] and the story behind our brand”.
Nip of Courage founder, Kathleen Davies, has been working closely behind the scenes with the British Consulate in Sydney to make sure everything runs smoothly with the export of this special cask for the wedding.
Back on their way home to the UK now, Harry and Meghan have just under 2 months until May 19th, their big day that now features a little bit of Aussie spirit.
Hope everyone had a great April Fools Day!
